Cradle My Heart Today | Courtney’s story 3-7-2018
Courtney Beck was pregnant at 16, and deeply afraid of bringing shame on her churchgoing family in small town Arkansas. Listen now:
She went into survival mode.
That left her vulnerable to the wishes of her boyfriend, who decided abortion was the answer.
Without reflecting on whether it was right or wrong, that’s just what she did.
Then her shame became internalized so deeply that for seventeen years she couldn’t even bring herself to write or say the word “abortion.”
But with the love of a supportive husband and a pregnancy help center, Courtney has fully recovered her freedom and joy in Jesus Christ.
Abortion is an isolating experience. Secrecy often leads to shame and silence. Healing happens as we risk reaching out for help.
Finding faith to take that risk is often the first step to finding God’s love after abortion.
We can look to the brave example of the woman who reached out for the hem of Jesus’ robe, and found new freedom and hope. Women are finding that same freedom and hope in abortion recovery through the pregnancy help community today.
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Mark 5:34
