She chose abortion – until she saw her baby’s beating heart

Cradle My Heart Today | April’s story 2-28-2018

Despite a rocky relationship with the father of her four children, April had turned over a new leaf. Listen now:

She even volunteered at her church.

But when she found out she was pregnant a fifth time April told Pregnancy Help News, “I really wanted an abortion and I was firm on that.”

However, seeing her baby’s heartbeat on ultrasound put that decision on hold, and produced a strength in April she didn’t know she had.

Though she had to step down as a youth group leader, she kept moving forward, refusing to run from her fears or take the easy way out.

Through the pain, April began to feel her pregnancy wasn’t an accident, and neither was “Blessing Jubilee”—the baby girl named to remind April, and everyone, just how valuable and welcomed she is.

An unplanned pregnancy may seem everything but a blessing from God. In fact, abortion rights advocates sometimes characterize the unborn child as a parasite or a punishment.

Yet God says children are a blessing, and we are blessed when we obey. Abortion takes an innocent life, shedding innocent blood, which God has said we must not do in Exodus 20:13. The blessing comes as we follow in faith. Not just to us, but to our blessed children as well:

You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God: Your towns and your fields will be blessed. Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed. Deut. 28: 2-4 (NLT)
