Cradle My Heart Today | Sherrie’s story 1-11-18
The changing landscape of adoption means more open adoptions, and an overall better understanding of adoptive families. Listen now:
Sherrie Eldridge has contributed a great deal to that ongoing understanding.
Yes, adoption rescues children from abortion.
But it’s crucial for adoptees to receive the unique support they need to overcome issues of abandonment and a heightened need for security.
As an adoptee, Sherrie knows the loss at the heart of every adoption experience.
She says being adopted may be a deeper loss than death or divorce, as she shares the inspiring way God’s word began the healing of her heart.
She ministers through her nonprofit organization, Jewel Among Jewels Adoption Network. With the life-defining identity she gained through the Scriptures, Sherrie learned what God thought about her.
And she says her work is to help fellow-adoptees in seeing themsleves as deeply wanted in God’s eyes, based on the words in Ezekiel 16: 4-7:
On the day you were born, you were thrown out into an open field, unwanted. But I (God) came by and saw you lying there in your own blood. And, I said, ‘Live, thrive, like a plant in the field! And you did! You became a jewel among jewels.
