World’s longest frozen embryo born late last year

Cradle My Heart Today | Tina’s story 1-4-18

Tina Gibson joyfully gave birth to little Emma Wren in November of 2017 through embryo adoption. Listen now:

So-called snowflake babies have been melting hearts for years now, but reps of the National Embryo Donation Center told Emma is the longest-frozen embryo to come to birth, conceived and cryopreserved for 24 years.

Since Tina, her mom is 26, just a year-and-a-half older, she said, “These embryos could have been my best friends.”

The faith-based NEDC’s embryo adoption program has led to nearly 700 pregnancies through embryos adopted from all 50 states, to couples coming from all over the US and abroad for their embryo transfers.

And Tina shares the faith at the center of their miracle experience.

NBC affiliate WBIR reports, “People say, ‘oh it’s science,’ but no I think it’s a gift from the Lord. It’s a gift from the Lord, for sure,” Tina said.

After fostering with the hope of adoption, the Gibsons were thrilled to learn that Tina could both adopt and give birth.

Little Emma’s longevity as an embryo inspires us to think about the infinite worth of each life, even at the earliest stages of development. Many frozen embryos face abortion, marked for destruction as “extras” or byproducts of reproductive technology.

Yet Tina’s story reflects the bigger story of each of our lives, and each of Emma’s days was known to God before she came to be (see Psalm 139:16).

He settles the childless woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the LORD. Psalm 113:9
