The eternal impact of a very short life

Cradle My Heart Today | Chaeli’s story 1-1-18

Chaeli Meerman touched hearts on Facebook with her decision to carry forward her pregnancy despite facing a fatal prognosis. Listen now:

Chaeli, James, and Jay Meerman

Chaeli shared with us how James Henry, who died shortly after his birth, continues to impact her, her family and countless others today.

Though many doctors would advise abortion in cases of anencephaly, Chaeli says she wouldn’t trade a moment of James’ life and the chance to meet him, love him, and say goodbye.

Only God could unite us in our grief, as he provides our joy, as women find our common hope in Jesus Christ after infant loss and abortion.

Beyond the grief, Chaeli said the experience of being James’ mom made her feel very close to God throughout it all.

Two Bible verses were especially helpful:

Revelations 21:4 assured her that God will wipe away every tear.

And Psalm 34:18 assured her of the nearness of God–through his Word and through her family and church friends who continue to offer their ongoing love and support.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted,
and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
