Cradle My Heart Today | Julie’s Story 10-24-17
Julie Ziglar Norman was Zig Ziglar’s daughter before he was Zig Ziglar. Listen now:
He was still Zig, of course, but back then, he was just a local salesman, and not an especially Christian influence when Julie was young.
As a teen, Julie gave in to peer pressure and was bullied into sexual activity, and later chose abortion to cover that up.
In recovery from alcohol abuse, it was extremely painful to share that with her professionally upbeat dad.
Yet Zig’s love and unconditional acceptance helped Julie to heal as she faced the many problems in her past.
And now she shares that same love and acceptance from our heavenly Father as she inspires audiences with the message of hope.
Many young women choose abortion to save the family reputation, and it happens among pastors’ families too.
But trying to craft an image of a perfect family in the face of our personal failures is a losing strategy.
Her turning point
Honest and sincere confession, first to God, and then to a trusted, mature Christian outside the family circle can begin the process of healing. Then healing is extended by speaking truth to parents and others loved ones who may need to know.
For I will declare my iniquity, I will be in anguish over my sin. . . Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.Psalm 38:18, 21-22
