Cradle My Heart Today | Trudy’s story 10-6-17
One of the most important steps we can take to finding spiritual health after abortion is to tell the story of what happened to us. Listen now:
Christian Counselor Trudy Johnson’s approach removes that emotionally loaded word, and replaces it with a text-message style shorthand, “vpt” which stands for voluntary pregnancy termination.
Trudy says, “The value of this change in language is not in obscuring reality nor denying our accountability in the deaths of our children. Instead, the more neutral language opens the door to process the experience and resolve the grief and guilt.”
She aims to “take post-abortion counseling into the twenty-first century” through eTherapy and skype sessions.
Abortion often leaves unprocessed grief, but it can be overcome.
God in Christ promises forgiveness and healing. Trauma often sets the stage for abortion, and then abortion only adds new trauma. As we heal our hearts through trauma resolution we begin to grasp the hope of full acceptance and restoration.
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:3-5
