Cradle My Heart Today | Anne’s story 8-2-17
After becoming sexually active at 15, Anne was pregnant at 17. Listen now:
Her mother threatened to kick her out unless she aborted. Anne complied.
She drove herself downtown and walked across one of Pittsburgh’s many bridges to her first experience of even being examined in that setting.
She says, “I remember the tears and the sounds, and how the doctor said he thought he had gotten everything.”
When she returned home her mother simply said, “We will never speak of this again.”
And they didn’t.
But a Christian retreat many, many years later has helped Anne to process her experience and enabled her to be able to speak about it, and write about it on her blog.
And to accept that she is accepted and forgiven in Jesus Christ.
So often we believe that our neediness is a sign of weakness. But asking for help is a life skill that builds up our strength. God does not despise those who are crushed and brokenhearted after abortion. He hears and delivers. He loves and heals.
The righteous cry, and the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34:17-19
