Growing up without a mother leaves young women with a nurturing deficit in the best of circumstances.
When the father present constantly sends the message that the mother is absent because the daughter is unwanted, an ongoing sense of loss can permeate that daughter’s life.
In listening to hundreds of stories over the years, I’ve seen the pattern where the lack of a strong bond between mother and daughter often leaves young women vulnerable to abortion. The work of child and family psychiatirst, Philip Ney suggests that such a pattern develops in those who have been dehumanized through neglect, who then may enter into a cycle of dehumanization by aborting children of their own.
Such a pattern was present in Wendy Schettig’s early life.
Her story illustrates the compounding damage abortion can do to a woman with emotional stress. And she shares the power of God’s love to break through to bring us comfort, completion, and peace as she learned the truth about her mother’s love for her.
Please join us as Wendy opens her heart to share her story and her music written to heal the heartbreak of abortion.
