After surviving abortion she lives to forgive

Cradle My Heart Today | Melissa’s story 4-20-17

Melissa Ohden always knew she was adopted. Listen now:

But only as a young teen did she learn she survived a saline abortion. That attempt on her life did not have lingering health effects, but hearing of it shattered Melissa’s young identity.

As an adult she got her adoption records listing her biological father’s name, which eventually led to meeting her birthmother, who had never known Melissa survived.

Her grandmother pushed for Melissa to be left to die, but a nurse intervened.

Today, as a pro-life activist and abortion survivor Melissa says, “Whether we live or die should not be up to the people who happen to be present when we’re born.”

Her journey to self-acceptance and forgiving others sheds light on the value of every unborn life.

As we journey with Jesus to reconcile a painful past, we see the love of people often fails us. For some, the lack of love was deadly. And some may struggle for having made the deadly choice to destroy our childrens’ lives. We all need the love of Jesus Christ.

We all need him now.

Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God. It cost God plenty to get you out of that dead-end, empty-headed life you grew up in. He paid with Christ’s sacred blood, you know. He died like an unblemished, sacrificial lamb. And this was no afterthought. Even though it has only lately—at the end of the ages—become public knowledge, God always knew he was going to do this for you. It’s because of this sacrificed Messiah, whom God then raised from the dead and glorified, that you trust God, that you know you have a future in God. 1 Peter 1:18-21 (MSG)
