Fast Fact Pop culture – The Handmaid’s Tale series debuts in April, based on the dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood. The plot depicts forced pregnancy and birth as a critique on culture, especially Christians in government. As if on cue, USA Today reports, last week women showed up in handmaid red robes to protest abortion legislation at the Texas Legislature. They want lawmakers out of their abortion decisions. The fact that through abortion on demand it is women who are denying children their own agency makes this narrative vile propaganda at best.

Fast Fact Politics – Democrats in media dish out verbal abuse to commentator who suggested in the NY Times that To Win Again Democrats Must Stop Being the Abortion Party. In the face of bullying and emotional displays it’s important to remember that verbal abuse is not an argument. You may not persuade the abuser, but if you stick with facts and arguments any onlookers will notice the difference.

Fast Fact Apologetics – Lack of a clear apologetic leaves Oklahoma lawmaker open to ridicule on rape. I wrote for Faith Radio this week presenting a better way to argue against abortion after rape. First acknowledge the grievous transgression and work for justice for the survivor. Then bring attention back to the reality that abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent human being. The circumstances of conception do not strip the child of his or her humanity. Finally, flush out a crusader by agreeing to abortion only in cases of rape, and see if they will agree to end the other 99.7%. If not, point out the intellectual dishonesty of exploiting the tragedy of rape as a substitute for facts and arguments in support of their position.

Fast Fact Genetics Is there a need for legal protection for children diagnosed with Down syndrome in utero? That Oklahoma lawmaker mentioned above, George Faught, was arguing a bill that would prevent aborting children for genetic anomalies like Down syndrome. In Europe several nations have aborted the vast majority of children with DS, a non-fatal condition. In Denmark the rate is 94%. If killing children for a genetic condition is not a human rights violation, then nothing is. God doesn’t make mistakes when he makes people who are special, or different, or who challenge us and our ideas of normalcy. How “we” feel about “them” is God’s mirror into the true condition of our hearts.

Fast Fact Planned ParenthoodDavid Daleiden has been charged again for his work to expose Planned Parenthood. In 12 undercover videos he presented evidence of unethical and illegal practices handling fetal tissue procured from Planned Parenthood abortions. Yesterday California prosecutors charged him with 15 felony counts of recording people without consent. The Washington Times reports that Daleiden issued a statement saying in part, “The bogus charges from Planned Parenthood’s political cronies are fake news. They tried the same collusion with corrupt officials in Houston, TX and failed: both the charges and the DA were thrown out.”
