Envisioning The Party of Life

After abortion people need healing, and politics never healed a broken heart.

But I’ve come to see that our hearts are healed as we take up our position to defend and fight for the rights of children yet to be born.

Ben Domenech, publisher of The Federalist, recently proposed creating a new party for those who believe abortion is the defining issue of our times, discussed in his article The Party Of Life: The Case For A Pro-Life Third Party. As a 501c3 organization, Cradle My Heart is non-political. However we are able to present information to help our listeners make informed decisions. Discussing the need for a new political party does not impact the current election cycle, nor is this discussion intended to.

As someone personally impacted by abortion I spent many years on the sidelines of the cause for life, seeking to be above the fray. Many others are deeply persuaded to keep hands off by rhetoric casting abortion as a privacy issue. But Domenech encourages readers to be inspired by the Federalist motto “Be lovers of freedom and anxious for the fray.” As such he has worked out the agenda of a Party of Life, protecting unborn life at the legislative and judicial levels. He also addresses how it would be implemented through health care and insurance policy and practices for women facing unintended or unwanted pregnancy through life-honoring alternatives.

As we examined the need for such a party, the leadership in the existing parties, and the likelihood of success based on abolition parties in the past, Domenech argued the Party of Life represents “a viewpoint held by an enormous number of Americans, roughly half the country, but in the context of the 2016 election [one] opposed or barely tolerated by all of the candidates on a majority of ballots.” By making the life issue a priority the message would become much more difficult to ignore or simply placate. The lives of innocent children are on the line–lives that deserve protection beyond political partisanship, lives that should make us anxious for the fray.

Cradle My Heart Productions, Inc. is a 501c3 organization and as such, we are unable to endorse or lobby for or against candidates and parties. This discussion is meant to educate and inform.
