Cradle My Heart Today | Chris’s story 8-31-17
While she was yet to be born, Chris was marked for death by abortion. Listen now:
But as her mother sat for a moment in that hospital, an African-American janitor saw her crying and asked if she wanted to have this baby.
When she said yes, the janitor replied, “Then God will give you the strength.”
That strength came, and Chris’ mom walked out.
Today Chris is the leader of a local pregnancy center where she told us she sees her work as providing an underground railroad of care.
And the parallels to rescue by runaway slaves, she says is intentional.
She says, “These women are victims of a system bigger than themselves.”
The answers to every unplanned pregnancy are still found in strength from above, because, Chris says: “Hope is stronger than fear.”
The Bible tells us that we are to rescue those being led away to death, and that we are without excuse if we say we don’t know about it.
And the Scriptures also assure us that God who guards our lives, also knows what we face in the perils of rescue.
Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done? Proverbs 24: 11-12
Trust God and dare to help someone today.
It’s as easy as Chris’s example of sharing your time, talent or treasure with a local pregnancy help center.
