Light at the end of the abortion tunnel

Cradle My Heart Today | Sarah’s story 8-8-17

Sarah survived an abortion attempt thanks to her mother who insisted she receive care, even as the doctor predicted “no quality of life.” Listen now:

As she writes at gospelcoalition.com, her mother was incapable of caring for Sarah who landed in foster care, with a Christian family.

Sarah says, “After nearly eight years in the Louisiana Foster Care System, they adopted me. Without them, I wouldn’t have survived, and I might have joined the hundreds of thousands of Americans who believe abortion is the answer to the social crisis around us.”

Sarah says her foster family who became her adoptive parents, faithfully lived out James 1:27: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

Paul Swope of the Caring Foundation said that an unintended pregnancy thrusts women into a situation which may feel life-threatening. We fear the death of our dreams and plans, loss of reputation, and even our very identity. This threat seems to thrust us into a pit of despair, often made worse by the abortion choice. And he notes, “Abortion may be a kind of resolution, but it is not the one the woman most deeply longs for, nor will it even preserve her sense of self.”

The end of Sarah’s story, and the story of other survivors, gives us hope that there is light at the end of every problem pregnancy.

Often hope arrives through the pregnancy help movement or other individuals who take to heart what God has said about caring for women and children who lack the shelter and protection of a stable marriage and family.

What an opportunity–to be the light of God’s love!

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27
