Her miscarriage exposed the lie of abortion

Cradle My Heart Radio | Becky’s story

When Becky Thompson went through a miscarriage, a coding error on her hospital bill denoted an elective abortion. Listen now:

In striving to correct the record, Becky says she realized, “Abortion wasn’t just a word that was mistakenly used in place of my miscarriage; it is the word that has changed the discussion of miscarriage altogether.”

The resulting silence has been heavily influenced by abortion rhetoric which refuses to acknowledge that abortion equals the death of a baby.

Becky wrote on her blog that it’s time to start the conversation, saying, “It’s time to change the discussion of miscarriage – by starting one. Time to acknowledge the loss of neonatal life as…life. Time to stop expecting women and men who have experienced miscarriage to stay silent in their own pain.”

The death of a child for any reason challenges our faith at its most basic level.

Perhaps that’s why Jesus once said, “Let the little children come to me.” And why he used children as an example of the kind of openhearted gentleness found in the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of his love.

Even as we grieve child loss through miscarriage and abortion, we can rejoice that Jesus loves the little children, keeping them forever safe in his care.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
