Cradle My Heart Today | Cheryl’s story 6-29-17
Sin that remains hidden can set back your spiritual growth. Listen now:
Cheryl and her boyfriend were Christians who attended church together, but when they got pregnant she chose abortion and tried to simply move on.
Like Cheryl, many of us want to distance ourselves from abortion in our past. We pretend it never happened for just as long as we can.
But like a beach ball that won’t stay underwater, the reality resurfaces and once more we find ourselves in the same old problematic lifestyle which led to the abortion in the first place.
We have to own the fact that we bear some accountability for the circumstances of our abortion experience. Being accountable is the healthy alternative to blame or denying our sin.
If you want to get growing in faith, start today by facing the past in light of God’s love for you.
Cheryl’s path has led her to counsel others who have chosen abortion. Time alone cannot heal us. The key to spiritual growth is grasping that God does not count our sins against us once we believe in the power of Jesus Christ to forgive.
Reconciling with God and others harmed by the abortion experience helps us grow in both mercy and grace toward ourselves and others.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19
