Adopting from foster care

Cradle My Heart Today | Kelly’s story 6-26-17

Kelly and her husband believed strongly in the sanctity of human life and thought they might adopt someday. Listen now:

But when they learned the extent of the need for families for children in foster care, Kelly knew she had to do something.

And over the course of eight years they brought home four children from the foster care system.

Today as she works with Focus on the Family for orphan care, Kelly says, “Each of us should ask God one question: ‘Lord, do you want to use the blessing of our family on behalf of a child without one?’

“If we could get everybody willing to pray that prayer and simply consider that,” Kelly says, “I think we’d have no more waiting kids.”

Many of us wonder about God’s will for us, and we may feel confused about how he would have us spend our time, talent, and treasure.

But God’s word is clear that orphans are a priority in the kingdom of God, and godly wisdom leads to actions on their behalf.

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. James 1:27 NLT
