You influence abortion decisions too

Cradle My Heart Today | Maggie’s story 6-21-17

One of the little-known tragedies of abortion is that the actual decision is often made by those other than the mother. Listen now:

Boyfriends, husbands, family members and friends play a huge role in a woman’s decision.

Maggie is a prime example.

Pregnant as a young teen, she called a Heartbeat International pregnancy helpline late at night to say she wanted to carry her baby to term and cherish the life entrusted to her by God.

But her parents were ashamed that their daughter was pregnant, and were pressuring Maggie to abort.

Maggie learned about her legal rights in pregnancy, and her rights to protect herself and her baby against the demands of her parents.

And in time, her parents came to agree with Maggie’s choice for life. And they came to love their grandchild too!

Each one of us has an influence on the young women and men in our midst. By our words and actions we reflect a welcome attitude in times of trouble, and whether or not we truly value children at every stage of development in every circumstance.

As God’s people we are authorized to build up those in need of support and care. What better time than when God has brought a new life into being?

At all times, let our words be kind and forgiving toward those who are pregnant, shunning the shame and refusing the labels the world heaps up.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
