The difference a grandmother makes

Cradle My Heart Today | Evelyn & Sophia’s story 6-20-17

Evelyn was concerned about her teen granddaughter Sophia. Listen now:

Sophia was considering abortion.

Evelyn wanted to make sure that was the best decision, so she called a Heartbeat International pregnancy help center.

  • “What, exactly, happens during an abortion?”
  • “What are the potential side-effects?”
  • “What about emotional or psychological fallout?”

While Evelyn had thought of the barriers to Sophia becoming a parent, she had not thought about the serious risk abortion posed.

She began to consider her role as Sophia’s grandmother, to help her granddaughter see beyond her current crisis.

Evelyn left the conversation with a new understanding of the value of life, and resources to help Sophia find the life-saving support they needed.

We often experience fears of our own as parents and grandparents to teen moms. Inviting God into the circumstances brings a new perspective on our past which may be driving those fears, and on the future which God alone holds and knows.

Though we may foresee limited opportunities and economic hardship, the best gift we can give the young people in our lives is the gift of faith in Jesus Christ to see us through.

How much better to get wisdom than gold!
To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver. Proverbs 16:16
