When a Christian chooses abortion

Cradle My Heart Today | Kim’s story 5-1-17

Every year, more than a million women experience elective abortions. Listen now:

I never thought I would be one in a million.

And you may be surprised to learn most of us women who made that choice have some connection to a church. This means there are millions of Christian women who never held the baby we thought we did not want, but now wish we could have known and loved.

The numbers are huge but there is no comfort in knowing so many suffer, only in how many can be freed from abortion‘s scars as one-by-one we each find the comfort of knowing Jesus Christ. He comes in friendship, lending his power for living, and helping lay down our sorrow, struggles and pain.

Like me, you may have chosen abortion because you didn’t know what to believe and you fell for the lie that your baby was “just tissue.” And in the aftermath it’s hard to know what to believe about how God sees us and how we ought to see ourselves.

The last place you want to go for answers may be back to church.

You can be confident of this: Jesus loves you no matter what you’ve done, and he will love you to the end.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5: 6-8
