Melissa Ohden’s story has finally come full circle.

She found out when she was a teenager that she had survived an attempted saline abortion. She faced that devastating fact with the help of a loving and supportive adoptive family. But there were many questions about her birthmother and her biological roots which would take years for Melissa to uncover.

During those years she became a vocal opponent of abortion, allowing her story to be told to bring to light the brutality of abortion to everyone involved. That story alone has changed countless hearts and minds on the “safety” and morality of abortion.

As time has unfolded Melissa has come to know the full story of what led to that day, actually those days–the saline procedure unfolded over the course of five days. It’s a miraculous story that Melissa tells with a vulnerable heart, open to all that God has for her as she continues on the path of advocating for the youngest members of the human family.

What strikes me is the open hand Melissa extends to those who like me have experienced abortion as abandonment, or who made that choice willfully. Her heart is forgiving and compassionate and you will hear that in this interview. You’ll also learn how hundreds of others have survived attempts on their lives, and what Melissa is doing to help them too.

Please join us for a story of survival, hope and triumph with Melissa Ohden as told in her new book You Carried Me, A Daughter’s Memoir.

From her bio:

Melissa Ohden is the survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion in 1977. Despite the initial concerns regarding Melissa’s future after surviving the attempt to end her life at approximately seven months gestation, she has not only survived but thrived. After years of searching for her biological family and offering them forgiveness for the decision that was made to end her life, Melissa’s story, and her life, is so much more than one of survival. It’s evidence of the intergenerational impact of abortion on all of our lives. More importantly, it’s a testament to the beauty of God’s grace in our lives, the power of love, and the transformational power of forgiveness and in answering God’s call for your life.

Melissa was formerly a College Outreach Speaker with Feminists for Life and is the former Patron of Real Choices Australia. She has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, and the Australian Parliament. Melissa is on the Board of Directors for the Vitae Foundation, a national organization which uses media to advance a culture of life.

In 2012, Melissa founded The Abortion Survivors Network (ASN). ASN seeks to educate the public about failed abortions and survivors while providing emotional, mental and spiritual support to abortion survivors.
