Callie chose life. And now she patiently counsels others--even those dangerously close to having an abortion--that adoption should be THE option they consider as the most loving choice a woman could make.

Talk about paying to forward.
Callie Jett was saved from the heartache of abortion by someone who took the time to have a conversation with her to let her know about open adoption. At 16, she knew she couldn’t give her child all that would be needed in the short term, but with open adoption she could remain connected and a part of her child’s life.
Callie chose life. And now she patiently counsels others–even those dangerously close to having an abortion–that adoption should be THE option they consider as the most loving choice a woman could make. She’s started an organization built on the simple idea of opening up the dialogue to talk about adoption. Hard as it is for some to believe, stigma still exists.
According to Callie’s website at Talk about Adoption, only 2 percent of women facing an unplanned pregnancy will choose adoption. Yet, for each baby that is placed for adoption, there were 36 couples hoping to adopt that baby.
And four out of 10 unplanned pregnancies will end in abortion. Jett says:
When we do not talk about adoption, we…
- Fuel the stigma of adoption
- Increase the desire for abortions
- Eradicate state adoption regulation laws in favor of birth parents, adoptees, and honest waiting families
But, when we talk about adoption, we…
- End the stigma of adoptio
- Decrease the desire for abortions
- Support state adoption regulation laws in favor of birth parents, adoptees, and honest waiting families

From her bio:
Callie Jett is a mother, birth mother of fourteen years, and the Founder of Talk About Adoption™. At sixteen years old, Callie faced an unplanned pregnancy and felt pressured to have an abortion. Instead, she bravely walked out of Planned Parenthood on the day of her appointment for an abortion, and into the presence of sidewalk counselors who suggested the option of open adoption. Callie stayed at a maternity home throughout her pregnancy, and chose the option of open adoption for her son, since she was not in a position to parent at the time. After fourteen years, Callie, her birth son, and her birth son’s adoptive parents still remain in contact with each other.
