“God is at work and we’re invited to join Him”
Warren Cole Smith can be forgiven if he is perceived as having issues with evangelical culture.
But don’t mistake him for someone who doesn’t care.
His book A Lover’s Quarrel with the Evangelical Church is a call for us to be salt and light rather than a professional class or cloying sentimentalists.
In his new book, Restoring All Things, co-authored with John Stonestreet of Breakpoint, Smith addresses the individual to further emphasize that the Bible is not, or not merely, a book about how to have a better life or handle life’s problems.
The book casts a vision for the faith of the evangelical community to reach beyond personal prosperity to truly impact a hurting world in need of God’s love.
Restoring is filled with prescriptive and practical wisdom:
- How helping can often hurt
- How to process the chaos and bad news of today’s society
- How we can be truly helpful to God’s plan of restoration
- How to approach the hot-button issues like abortion and homosexuality in a God-centered way
There’s also a great deal of help for those whose hope is strong that the church is God’s chosen instrument for restoration–especially those who may feel as though they are not making an impact in our results-oriented climate of pursuing ministry and faith.
Warren’s stories of first-hand accounts of God’s restoring power will leave you renewed in hope and inspired in faith.
