Cynthia Ruchti had a simple revelation that led to her new book Tattered and Mended: the Art of Healing the Wounded Soul. As she sat to write she was struck with this truth:

People are tattered. Some say, “Then let’s make tattered fashionable.”

But God invites us to mend.

What a powerful message for those of us hurt by abortion. Over and over I’ve heard women and men say that they would do anything if they could just undo that day.

What if you didn’t have to? What if God began, that very day, working out a perfect plan for something totally new that was being fashioned from the heartbreak you went through?

Cynthia began curating images of sashiko and boro mending stiches used in Japan to re-fashion torn fabric. Just viewing her pinterest board of these delicate yet strong stitches is a healing moment.

Cynthia Ruchti tells stories hemmed in Hope through her novels, novellas, devotions, and nonfiction, and through speaking for women’s events/retreats and writers’ conferences/workshops. She draws from 33 years of experience writing and producing the 15-minute daily radio broadcast, “The Heartbeat of the Home.” Her books have received recognition from RT Reviewers’ Choice, PW Starred Review, Selah Awards, Christian Retailing’s BEST Awards, CLASSeminars Award of Excellence, Golden Scroll Awards, and more. She serves as Professional Relations Liaison for American Christian Fiction Writers, is a board member of the Deliver Hope ministry, and is part of the worship team at her church. She and her husband live in the heart of Wisconsin, not far from their three children and five grandchildren.
