Cradle My Heart Radio welcomes Silent No More Awareness Campaign speaker Jody Duffy November 23 at 9:30 pm ET
When we launched Cradle My Heart Radio in 2012, a large part of our mission and vision was to create a safe space to share our stories. Now helping us fulfill that mission is our partnership with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. The Campaign helps women and men prepare to speak out about abortion in safety for the benefit of others.
This week we welcome Jody Duffy, Silent No More regional coordinator for Georgia. For twenty years, Jody says she was “Supermom” and appeared to have it all together. But on the inside she suffered with pain from her abortion regret until she found healing and forgiveness and wants you to know that you can, too.
Jody’s abortion played a strong role in cutting short her career in the military. Jody wrote recently about her work to help service members in light of the military’s abortion policy:
What is the abortion policy of the military? Currently, the United States government bans the use of Department of Defense funds for the performance of abortions except when the mother’s life is in danger. It currently bans the performance of abortion at any US Military hospital or other medical facility exceptwhere the life of the mother is in danger. A service woman who becomes pregnant overseas must seek out a local clinic at her own expense or return to the US. In the states she must also seek out a local clinic and pay out of pocket.
Jody proposes that the answer is not to increase access, but to offer true support and alternatives to abortion.
We’ll discuss Jody’s efforts to engage the spiritual leadership–chaplains and others–to address the critical needs of the abortion-vulnerable and the post-abortive within the active ranks.
From the SNM website:
Silent No More Awareness is a Campaign whereby Christians make the public aware of the devastation abortion brings to women and men. The campaign seeks to expose and heal the secrecy and silence surrounding the emotional and physical pain of abortion. The Campaign began November 11th, 2002. As of September 2014 the Silent No More Awareness Campaign has held 1,394 Gatherings in 17 countries & 48 states with 5,802 women and men sharing their abortion testimonies. Testimonies have also been shared at 95 high schools and universities in the last 4 years, 23 in 2014 to date. Currently there are 15,639 people registered with the Campaign representing 77 countries. People who are not ready to join the Campaign, are invited to ‘register their regret’. So far, 4713 women and 555 men have said they regret their abortion or lost fatherhood. 508 women and men have posted memorials to their children.
