Cradle My Heart Radio with Kim Ketola welcomes Julia Holcomb Sunday July21
[UPDATE: podcast posted 7-30-13]
Julia Holcomb is a survivor.
When she was 16 years old she became the legal ward of Steven Tyler, lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith and current American Idol judge. Tyler released his autobiography in 2011, relating the story of an abortion experience involving Julia and how his life then spiraled out of control. Although Tyler did not mention Julia by name, she has come forward to set the record straight.
At age 17, when she was over 5 months pregnant with Tyler’s first child, Julia barely survived a fire that burned their apartment. While still in the hospital recovering from smoke inhalation she was coerced into a horrific saline abortion.
She writes, “I pray that all those who have had abortions or have participated in any way in an abortion procedure may find in my story, not judgment or condemnation, but a renewed hope in God’s steadfast love, forgiveness and peace. Marriage and the family are the building blocks of all virtuous societies. I pray that our nation may find it’s way back to God’s plan by respecting the life of unborn children and strengthening the sanctity of marriage.”
Julia’s story is both riveting and inspiring. Today she is happily married to her husband of 30 years and together they have 7 children. Julia is most importantly a woman of God, a motivational speaker, and an accomplished artist specializing in iconography, portraiture and landscape realism.
